What signals does ShieldCommerce analyze?
ShieldCommerce evaluates 39 fraud signals across 6 categories: geographic (IP/billing/shipping mismatches), email (disposable domains, domain age, free vs corporate), IP (VPN, proxy, TOR, datacenter, blocklist), velocity (orders per email/IP), payment (prepaid cards, BIN mismatches, failed attempts), and order patterns (guest checkout, express shipping, odd hours, bulk purchases). On Growth+ plans, IPQS adds IP reputation, email validation, and transaction scoring.
What does "Bayesian scoring" mean?
Unlike simple point-based systems, our Bayesian engine uses calibrated likelihood ratios for each signal. The math means a risk score of 80 genuinely indicates an 80% probability of fraud — not an arbitrary number. Clean signals actively REDUCE risk (a clean IPQS score protects legitimate orders), and correlated signals are grouped to prevent score inflation.
What is CE 3.0 and how does it help with chargebacks?
Visa Compelling Evidence 3.0 is a framework that lets merchants present specific data to dispute chargebacks. ShieldCommerce automatically collects CE 3.0 evidence (device fingerprints, IP data, transaction patterns) from the moment you install. When a dispute arrives, you have the exact evidence Visa requires to win.
How does Win Back work?
Win Back automates your chargeback response process. When you win a dispute using ShieldCommerce evidence, we charge a 20% fee on the recovered amount. Industry standard is 25%. On a $500 recovered chargeback, you keep $25 more with ShieldCommerce. No recovery, no fee.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. All PII (email, phone, IP) is hashed with SHA-256 before storage. Access tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. We never log sensitive data. Our database is hosted on Supabase in the EU region with row-level security. Shopify webhooks are verified with HMAC before processing.
Do I need to change any code in my store?
No. ShieldCommerce installs as a standard Shopify app with one click. It receives order data through Shopify webhooks automatically. An optional Theme App Extension adds device fingerprinting for stronger CE 3.0 evidence — it requires one click to activate from your Shopify admin, no coding needed.
What happens if I exceed my order limit?
We don't cut you off mid-month. Orders beyond your plan limit are still processed but won't receive IPQS enrichment (free signals still run). You'll get a notification suggesting an upgrade. On the Defend plan, overage billing will be available in a future update.
Can I switch or cancel anytime?
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time through the Shopify admin. Plan changes take effect immediately. Cancellation reverts you to the free Detect plan — your data is retained for 30 days.
